How to Fix Your Starbucks Aroma Quattro

If you find a Starbucks Aroma Quattro coffee maker at a garage sale or Goodwill,  buy it. (Where else can you get a carafe coffee maker for $5?) When you get home, do NOT use it. If you do a quick Google search, you’ll notice almost every review says it overflows, drowning your counter in hot water and coffee grinds. Guess what?

It’s true.

However, you can easily fix this problem if you know how to use a drill. The problem is the hole in the bottom of the basket – the part where you put the filter – is too small. Here’s how to fix it.  Use a 1/8″ drill bit and slowly, ever-so carefully drill through the hole in the bottom of the basket, being careful not to damage the stopper.

Now test it. First, fill the empty basket with water. It may drip a tiny bit but it should hold water. Next, place the basket full of water in the coffee maker and place the carafe in position under the basket. You should hear a steady stream of water flow into the carafe. For the final test, try making a pot of coffee. It should work perfectly.

Enjoy!

  1. I was going to say, “I thought it was broken.” But after reading what happened later, I’ve decided to change my comment to “That’s good!”
